Dr. Cusator is a vice president with The Camden Group and focuses on clinical integration, accountable care organizations, physician-hospital alignment strategies, physician leadership development, healthcare strategy, and care delivery system redesign.
Prior to joining The Camden Group, Dr. Cusator served as Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Integration for Providence Health & Services, Southern California. He was responsible for physician alignment and clinical integration across the California region. This included providing clinical leadership for the regional medical practice foundation and the implementation of the alignment model for independent physicians of Providence’s five hospitals in California.
Prior to joining Providence, Dr. Cusator served as chief medical officer for Greater Newport Physicians (“GNP”), an independent practice association with 140 primary care physicians and over 300 specialists. He also managed the 400-physician network within GNP and helped to ensure coordination and collaboration of the primary and specialty care physicians.
Prior to joining GNP, Dr. Cusator was Vice President, Medical Director of St. Joseph Hospital Affiliated Physicians. He began his clinical practice as an internist with Bristol Park Medical Group, where he held multiple positions within the group setting, eventually becoming their full time medical director in 1996.
Dr. Cusator received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California. He received his doctorate of medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California; and his masters of business administration degree from the University of California, Irvine Paul Merage School of Business in Irvine, California.
