Dr. Koenig is a senior vice president with The Camden Group and is an expert on designing and developing medical management programs for health plans and accountable care organizations.  She has worked with provider groups and health system of all sizes, and specializes in utilization and quality management, including setting metrics to help organizations deliver accountable care.  She also is skilled in the development of provider networks and incentive systems.

Prior to joining The Camden Group, Dr. Koenig served as senior vice president and chief medical officer of SummaCare, Inc./Apex, Inc., the insurance and third party administrator (“TPA”) arm of Summa Health System.  She was responsible for the operations, contracting, and clinical policy development for the organization and its 170,000 members throughout Ohio, Florida, Vermont, and Tennessee.  Dr. Koenig also maintained a clinical presence as a practicing physician and a faculty member of the internal medicine residency program at Akron City Hospital, one of Summa Health System’s six hospitals.

Dr. Koenig has also previously served as medical director at SummaCare and at Ohio Health Choice.

She was appointed to serve on Ohio’s Medicaid Task Force as well as the Ohio Health Care Coverage and Quality Council (“OHCCQC”).  While on the OHCCQC, Dr. Koenig was assigned to both the Medical Home Task Force and the Payment Reform Task Force.  The Payment Reform Task Force is currently an advisory group to Ohio’s Office of Health Transformation.

Dr. Koenig is board certified in Internal Medicine with added qualifications in geriatric medicine.  She is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, has Advanced Standing Status with the American College of Physician Executives, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians.  She is a professor of internal medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical College (“NEOCOM”).

Dr. Koenig earned her bachelor of science degree from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.  She received her doctor of medicine degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio and her master’s degree in business administration in healthcare at the joint Baldwin Wallace/Northeastern Ohio Medical University in Berea, Ohio.
