MACRA, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, is a proposed rule from CMS that aims to encourage medical groups to pursue advanced payment models and accountable care. MACRA replaces several Medicare reporting systems and creates two potential paths for medical groups to take: the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Payment Models (APMs). Both programs begin to measure performance in 2017 and impact reimbursement to groups beginning in 2019.
As a leader in your medical group, how can you help ensure that your group is prepared for MACRA? How can your group benefit from incentive payments and avoid the reductions?
Our expert physician advisors work side by side with our clients to assess a group’s readiness for MACRA for either (or both) paths, develop a customized roadmap to achieve your strategic and operational objectives, and help you activate the roadmap in order to achieve measurable results. Our advisory services include:
MACRA Performance Readiness Assessment and Strategy Development
We can help you by assessing your current state of readiness for MACRA. Our medical group advisors will evaluate your clinical, operational, technology, and reporting capabilities to gauge your current performance. We then develop a comprehensive plan to successfully execute on the plan and s report on the CMS 2017 MACRA measures.
MACRA Roadmap Development
For organizations considering whether to pursue APM or stick with MIPS, our experienced team can help you develop a tactical MACRA roadmap focusing on strategic and operational objectives. This includes forming and facilitating a steering committee to form a shared vision around a MACRA strategy and the steps necessary to ensure success. In collaboration with the committee, we will develop strategies initially based on the current proposed rule, and then revise as needed when the final rule (anticipated late fall 2016) is published. This includes activities such as:
- Assess the organization’s readiness for MIPS and/or APM
- Determine whether to start with MIPS or to pursue APM initially
- Measure selection and capture
- Workflow analysis and/or development
- Workflow training
- Performance monitoring
